Good morning friends!

Emailing on a weekend - we know.

But if you’re the sort of person checking their inbox too, then perhaps you’re the sort of person to explore a couple of new ways to make your work & life easier and faster. (and if you’re here on Monday, welcome too)

Here are three things that landed this week that are genuinely worth ten minutes of your weekend.

First, Google's NotebookLM can now build slide decks from any information you give it. Not just suggest content or outline bullet points. It creates from scratch. Then you can edit individual slides (or the whole master style) with prompts, and MOST usefully exports straight to PowerPoint. If you've ever spent a Sunday evening swearing at a presentation for Monday morning, this one's for you.

Second, have you used Copilot in Microsoft? Do you hate it with a passion of a thousand angry wasps? You are very much not alone. Hope is here. Claude.ai now works inside Excel (and PowerPoint). An (actually) powerful AI sitting right there in Excel. Fair warning - it's a very early release. The people who've got it working are genuinely impressed. Others are getting error messages and swearing at their screens. Maybe one for a lazy Sunday with a cup of tea and low expectations. The good kind of weekend experiment.

Third, and my gosh this is the one that made me happy - you can install AI on your computer to sort through your chaotic photo, screenshot and download folders (amongst a million other more useful but less satisfying tasks).

Duplicates deleted. Files renamed based on what's actually in the image. If your laptop currently looks like a digital junk drawer, this weekend might be the weekend you finally deal with it. Both ‘Claude Code’ and OpenAI’s ‘Codex’ products can do this. Be careful though! They can also delete your entire hard drive if you aren’t keeping an eye on them. More Terminator than WALL-E at the moment, but getting better!
